21: The District – A Mormon Expositor Review for Episode 7: Turning Point

The usual suspects return: Brandt, Amy, Sara and Lance, to share their observations for the 2nd to last episode of The District which covers topics such as addiction, investigators that use logic and reason rather than relying on the “spirit” and we see a ‘worst missionary moment ever’. Also, does Sara accidentally create the best argument for the Mormon Church being more dangerous than the Catholic Church?? Find out!

First off big fan of the podcast. Thanks as always. One thing about the topic of video games. Violence is a different ball game when the user is controlling the violence and getting rewarded for it. This is much different from watching the violence on a movie or TV show. You rape the hooker and kill her.(grand theft auto) It is the controlling of the violence that messes people up.

      Hi Paul,

Thanks for the feedback. I think that’s a great point. While I still think they were reaching a bit to find something “dramatic” about Elder Murray, at the same time, I have heard firesides directed at men when I was at BYU-Idaho that talked extensively about video games, but moreso the fact that men were spending more time with video games than with their wives/family.

But I think that area is going to be something that is interesting to monitor – I hope I don’t come off too much like a prude, but that’s one of the reasons why I have actively stayed away from anything with Grand Theft Auto.

No prude… the only thing I play is angry birds when I have some think time on my throne. TMI?
